Ceremonial Gown

Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope

Leia ceremonialCharacter: Leia Organa
Variant: Ceremonial gown
Debut: May 2012

Dress

The A line gown consists of two layers: white cotton/viscose crepe satin for the sleeveless underdress and white crepe chiffon for the overdress. The bodice of the underdress is self-lined and has vertical bust darts for a better fit. The chiffon is used as outer layer on the skirt, the back of the bodice and the front bodice/sleeve piece. The front bodice overlay and wing-like sleeves are made from one big piece of chiffon without any seams or darts. The gown has a U-shaped neckline, an inverse V-shaped empire waist, a small train and closes in the back with an invisible zipper.

Jewelry and hairpiece

The cuff bracelet is an original one from Lapponia. The design is called ‘Darina’s’ from the collection ‘space silver’. The necklace pieces are made of polymer clay and painted with silver acrylic paint. A plaster negative mold was made after Lapponia’s famous necklace called ‘planetoid valleys’.

The hairpiece is made of wire mesh, wire and two long braids of artificial hair. The longer braid is wrapped three times around the cylindrical wire mesh base, the shorter one hangs loosely down the back. The hairpiece is kept in place with the help of a comb and some hair clips.

Belt, shoes and purse

The belt is made of silver leather, silver metal shank buttons and two different types of metal ornaments. The pentagonal and octagonal metal ornaments are made of polished, laser cutted stainless steel. I wear silver pumps with the gown. The silver, decorated leather purse is made from remnant materials.
